The problem is that only academic research and discussions, limited behind closed doors in the framework of the research anticorruption community prove not sufficient. More concrete action is needed. Curbing corruption to low, controllable levels is responsibility mostly of the law enforcement and the judiciary. At the same time, all of us who do not accept it – individuals, groups, organisations or institutions can and must contribute something in order to limit its detrimental influence. On 4-6 December 2002 the IAPBWB organises in Sofia, Bulgaria International seminar on “Professional and business women against corruption – practical aspects” The success of this first of its type international forum in Europe gave impulse to the idea of follow-up steps on the basis of knowledge acquired. In 2003 and 2004 experts analyzed the processes and challenges corruption in Bulgaria poses as threat to professional women and women entrepreneurs as well as to the wider society. Conclusions were summarized in the follow-up steps embodied into the project “Implementation of modern technology in fighting corruption 2003-2004” , which fully complies with European Union recommendations to Bulgaria in the last phase of the precession process. Expanding the opportunity to use the Internet as a strong tool in fulfilling EU recommendations to Bulgaria for curbing corruption in the eve of its membership is one of the goals of the Project, which will eventually continue to develop into a new form after 2004.
